Bioassays

Most Comprehensive Cytokine and Chemokine Assay Capabilities Worldwide

SBH Sciences excels in the development and validation of cell-based assays for cytokines and chemokines and is proud to offer 330 bioassays. In addition to the cytokine bioassays listed below, we have developed additional bioassay for Canine, Equine, Feline, Porcine, Rhesus Macaque and Swine derived cytokines. Each of our assay can be also used to determine neutralization capability of antibodies and receptors. We are also offering binding assays for all those cytokines.

Our extensive array of cytokines and chemokines bioassay services can help you to accelerate your discovery and development programs.

Please contact us so we can discuss your specific needs, we look forward to working with you.

Custom Bioassay Development

At SBH Sciences, we are continually developing new assays for our customers and would be pleased to include additional ones at your request. We can assure strict confidentiality and superior execution which will be delivered in a time and cost effective manner. The expected turnaround time per assay is less than two weeks, and includes a written report containing methods, results, and conclusions. SBH Sciences is determined to maintain the highest standards and deliver the highest quality products and services. We welcome your suggestions and encourage you to communicate with us about your individual research requirements.

SBH Sciences provides complete custom bioassay development for the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Diagnostic industry. Our 25 years' experience in bioassay development allows us to quickly design, construct, and run the assay tailored to your requests.

New Cytokine Release Assays
We developed six bioassays using human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) for the analysis of:

  • h-4-1BBL
  • h-AITRL
  • h-CD-40 Ligand
  • h-IL-17B
  • h-OX40-Ligand
  • h-TL-1A

New Chemokines Assays:

  • h-IL-8
  • h-GRO-alpha
  • h-GRO-beta
  • h-GRO-gamma
  • h-MCP-1
  • h-MCP-2
  • h-MCP-3
  • h-MCP-4

We are currently developing new assays using Blood cells.

Cytokine, Cytokine Receptors, Anti-Cytokine and Chemokines Bioassay Services

Our cytokine and chemokines bioassay capability is the most comprehensive one worldwide. We currently offer 330 bioassays in our two state-of-the-art cell culture facilities. The types of assays available include:

  • Cytokine-induced or reduced proliferation
  • Antibody neutralization of cytokine-induced proliferation
  • Complement Dependent Cytotoxicity (CDCC)
  • Antibody Dependent Cytotoxicity (ADCC)
  • Agonist and Antagonist Screening
  • Cytokine Release (ELISA, LUMINEX)
  • Chemokine functional assays based on GPCR activation of recombinant CHO cells.

Most of the bioassays are based on a colorimetric method of measuring cell activity using a non-radioactive substrate. This assay has been proven to be equivalent to the [3H] thymidine incorporated assay (Cell Signaling Applications Guide, Promega Corporation). The compound and the standard (if required) are reconstituted, serial diluted, and incubated with the cells over a 20 to 96 hour period. However, the Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) bioassay is based on measurement of alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells. BMPs belong to a large group of growth and differentiation factors from the TGF-beta superfamily.
